Bachelor of Science in Accounting

Juniata College, a small liberal arts school located in Huntingdon, PA, offers a Bachelor of Science in Accounting through its Department of Accounting, Business and Economics. The school requires students to declare a Program of Emphasis, which is an individually tailored academic concentration that provides more flexibility than a traditional major. The accounting Program of Emphasis is built around a business and accounting foundation, but is flexible enough to allow students to adjust their academic plan based on their career goals.

The experienced faculty teaches real-world skills like technological proficiency, teamwork, and oral communication, as well as standard accounting topics. Career and placement
Juniata’s philosophy is that the best way to develop strong accounting skills is to actively practice them, so students are encouraged to pursue internships after their sophomore year. The school’s popular internship program, which was founded in 1969, takes advantage of the college’s extensive network of professors, alumni, and local professionals. With help from the Juniata Career Team, students are placed at organizations or businesses in the Huntingdon area, where they get a chance to perform tasks relevant to their area of study.

Additional accounting networking opportunities are presented throughout the year at events hosted by the department’s Business Affinity Group and the Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
