Career and placement
Delaware State accounting graduates have recently been placed at some of the country’s largest and most prestigious corporations and accounting firms, including the Big Four.

To be well equipped for entry-level positions in the field, accounting students are encouraged to acquire professional experience while they’re still in school through participation in an academic internship. Students looking for a more rigorous professional experience can participate in the school’s cooperative education program, for which students alternate between periods of academic study and periods of employment. Both of these programs are rewarding ways for students to explore their career options and gain valuable on-the-job training.

The Career Services department aims to facilitate students’ entrance into the competitive job market by equipping them with all the necessary skills and resources. The department oversees Delaware State’s on-campus recruiting program, which brings hundreds of business professionals to the school to interview potential hires. Other services include internship and job placement, career coaching, and professional development workshops.

Additionally, students can join one of Delaware State’s student organizations, which host networking events, career fairs, and guest lectures featuring distinguished business leaders. Organizations relevant to accounting majors include:

  • The Accounting and Finance Club
  • National Association of Black Accountants
  • The Investment Club
